Ogyū Sorai was one of the most important Confucian thinkers of the Edo period. Among his major works are Bendō (Distinguishing the Way), Benmei (Distinguishing names), Seidan (Discourse on Government) Taiheisaku (Plan for and age of great peace) and Tōmonsho (Questions and answers). He was staunch critic of Chinese and Japanese Neoconfucians. In his opinion, the Way was creation of ancient kings transmitted by Confucius. Unlike most other Confucians Sorai recognized importance of law and political institutions. Sorai supported strong authority of shogun. He also advocated strict class division of the society. Sorai’s views were very controversial. He proposed resettlement of samurai from castle towns into their fiefs. Although some of his proposed solutions were unrealistic, his impact on development of political thought of Edo period is undeniable L1 - http://repozytorium.uni.wroc.pl/Content/108812/PDF/009_Demianczuk_A_Mysl_polityczna_i_prawna_Ogyu_Soraia.pdf CY - Wrocław L2 - http://repozytorium.uni.wroc.pl/Content/108812 PY - 2019 KW - confucianism KW - Edo KW - political thought KW - Japan T1 - Myśl polityczna i prawna Ogyū Soraia UR - http://repozytorium.uni.wroc.pl/dlibra/publication/edition/108812 ER -
