 abstract={The purpose of the work is to assess whether the Place Guard ensures order and peace of the local community, and how the safety of the local community affects the quality of life and health of residents. First, the theoretical foundations of local community security were discussed, as well as the tasks that belong to the guard. In the second, practical part, the City Guard in Jelenia Góra was characterized. The basic method used in the study was the analysis of the documentation of the City Guard in Jelenia Góra. The study consisted in isolating the components of the document according to the adopted criterion, i.e. the interventions carried out by the Municipal Police in 2017. Sampling was deliberate. In addition, the categorized observation method based on photographic observation technique and event sample technique was used to examine the selected unit. In the technique of time samples it was determined that the observation would last 30 minutes. every other day at different times for two weeks. The tests were carried out in March 2019. Research has shown that the Municipal Guard in Jelenia Góra undertakes more interventions that affect the level of residents' sense of security, and thus their lower quality of life and health.
