 abstract={The article presents the characteristics of friendship during early adulthood. In most friends are a group of individuals of mixed sex and meet „face to face” twice a week. In this period of life friendship meets primarily the function of help, intimacy and self-validation. The frequency of face-to-face meetings is positively correlated with companionship stimulation, self-validation and reliability alliance. The trust is related to the implementation of the help function, reliability alliance, self-validation and emotional security. The study found no connection between trust and companionship stimulation or intimacy. Loyalty and support (as a factor including the characteristics of trust and empathy) and openness proved to be the most important features of a friend related to the implementation of all functions of friendship.},
