They involvedidentification of macro- and microtraces formed on the object during its manufacturingprocess and later use. The results of the use-wear analysis were supplemented by inputfrom a series of experiments. They helped in reconstructing the history of the artefact,starting from the deliberate selection of its raw material, preparation of the necessarytools and the antler itself for working, the manufacturing process, and finally, the apparentlyextended use-life. Studies suggest that the use of the object definitely fitteda symbolic rather than a strictly utilitarian sphere, with some indications that the objecthad a relatively extended use-life within the communities involved in its manufactureand safekeeping.}, title={Manufacturing techniques and use}, keywords={antlerworking, technology, use-wear analysis, artefact biography}, }
