 abstract={A question referred for a preliminary ruling is an instrument by which a court or tribunal of the Member States asks the Court of Justice of the European Union to give a ruling on the interpretation of the Treaties, the validity and interpretation of acts adopted by the institutions, bodies, offices or agencies of the European Union. Recently, following the entry into force of the Union's succession Regulation No 650/2012, this is also the case here. National courts and tribunals may refer questions for a preliminary ruling in matters of succession. In their work, the authors look at the first questions from this area and wonder what the consequences of the practice of preliminary questions in this matter may be.},
