The subject of the analysis are offers and products of culture-oriented tourism in the borderland of the Polish Republic and the Czech Republic (the area of the Sudetes) in the context of the contemporary discourse concerning the multicultural past. The area in which we carry out the studies made – at a certain point in the past – the frontier of Austria-Hungary and Prussia. After the Second World War – as a result of changing the state affiliation and exchange of population – the social continuity and collective memory was disrupted. We identify the main motifs around which the image of the multicultural past of individual places and the whole of the borderland is constructed. We conceptualize strategies of taming the multicultural character for the needs of tourism, as well as point to new elements of pictures of the past, their conditionings and complicacies.}, title={The multicultural past in contemporary discourse of culture-oriented tourism in the Polish-Czech borderland}, keywords={cultural landscape, cultural memory, Polish-Czech borderland, culture-oriened tourism, multiculturalism}, }
