 abstract={The beginning of the third decade of the 21st century represents a period of rapid development and growth of artificial intelligence in many sectors of the economy. With the emergence of new products and services using artificial intelligence mechanisms, steps are being taken in the EU to establish a legal framework for its development, marketing and use. Entities implementing innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence will therefore be imperative to meet new regulatory requirements. They may pose a serious barrier to the development of modern technologies and the popularization of artificial intelligence, especially for small and medium enterprises. In order to mitigate this risk, including the reduction of the regulatory burden, EU bodies and entrepreneurs are proposing the establishment of additional measures to support innovation, including, in particular, AI regulatory sandboxes. The purpose of the article is an attempt to evaluate the institution of AI regulatory sandboxes as an instrument to foster innovation in artificial intelligence. The main part of the article is the analysis of the provisions defining the principles of AI regulatory sandboxes included in the proposed Artificial Intelligence Act, taking into account the evolution of their content during the legislative process.},
