 abstract={In this paper, I discuss Andrzej Antoszewski's systemic theory of democracy, pointing to the possibility of evolution of some of its assumptions in the light of contemporary findings in the field of research on political representation. In order to do so, I ask about the consequences of the intentional omission of the classical concept of people's power from the field of its assumptions - I try to establish to what extent this has affected the completeness and coherence of its assumptions, its analytical potential and its explanatory depth. Finally, I seek to establish the reasons for the expansion of the normative component of the theory under discussion, and to indicate the extent to which this manoeuvre can make it a research tool better suited to the new challenges facing theorists of contemporary democratic political systems.},
