The issue is important because Hungary is one of the few countries with a model of so-called personal autonomy, and therefore national minority associations have a public-law character. Similar assumptions also guided the organizational and legal solutions found in Poland during the interwar period, which has also been presented. This is only one option of the legal and organizational position of national minorities in the state, the general characteristics of which are also the subject of the study.
