 abstract={The following article attempts to familiarize the reader with the issues of microtransactions on the basis of the Belgian law. The article explains the concept of a microtransaction, focusing on its equivalent in the form of a loot box. The author describes social engineering techniques, the goal of which is to manipulate users, persuading them to make more online purchases. The standing of the Belgian gambling law towards existing microtransactions is also discussed. Furthermore, the article analyzes the report of the Belgian Gaming Commission, as well as presents its conclusions and recommendations for regulators. The author also presents the consequences of publishing the document within the video game industry.},
