The text provides an overview of the digital change in the world of work, with the focus on public administration and especially its employees. Political austerity from the 1990s and today’s demographic development dictate a quick and decisive rethink. New leadership skills are required! Managers at all levels must be able to recognize and implement necessary change processes at an early stage without neglecting the human resource “employees”. Health management and ongoing qualification are the key words. New employees have to be won, whereby it is no longer sufficient to rely on traditional advantages of the public service, such as job security.
