The last Galicia-Volyn ruler granted the city of Syanok Magdeburg Law in 1339. According to the Ukrainian, Polish and German researchers, Lviv, Volodymyr, Peremyshil and other cities obtained Magdeburg Law in the period of the Rus Kingdom. In 1356 Magdeburg Law was given to the city of Lviv. In the opinion of the German researcher R. Lieberwrit, the city of Lviv was granted the Magdeburg-Wroclaw systematic law 1261–1295. Magdeburg Law was granted to other cities of Galicia. Austrian researcher R. Candelle wrote that in Galicia more than 400 cities and villages had Magdeburg law.On the Ukrainian lands, that were included in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Magdeburg Law began to spread somewhat later and not so fast. In 1374 Magdeburg Law was given to the city of Kyamnets-Podilskyand others: to the capital of Ukraine-Kyiv in 1498, to Korsun in 1585, to BilaTserkva in 1615. In the left-bank Ukraine, Magdeburg law began to be extended at the end of the XVI century. In 1585 it was given to the city of Pereyaslav and others Starodub 1620, Chernihiv 1623, Nizhyn 1627 and others.The Galician Magdeburg Law was functioning until 1786, when Austria expanded its own self-government. On the Ukrainian lands, which were included in Russian Empire, Magdeburg law existed until 1831 and in Kyiv until December 1834. [...] Magdeburg law was in force on Ukrainian lands for more than 500 years and influenced the formation of the European sense of justice among Ukrainians and became a part of the Ukrainian sense of justice.The Magdeburg Law served the formation of the Ukrainian philistinism as a social state, which enabled to protect the interests of the townspeople before the state authorities, magnates and gentry.Almost all Ukrainian cities that were a part of the Polish Kingdom, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Commonwealth, had Magdeburg law.
