 abstract={Raphael Lemkin was the author of ‘the crime of genocide’ concept, and the main architect of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. The article presents the basic foundations of his genocide idea, the lawmaking method he used in his work on regulations, which penalized the crime in international law, and the specific politics he pursued in order to promote his idea on the global stage.The author has based her deliberations on an analysis of publications, archival documents and press materials, including the so-called leminkalias, i.e. unpublished materials gathered following the lawyer’s death (mostly correspondence –private and official, unpublished articles, notes, manuscripts, etc.).},
