 abstract={The State Labour Inspection (PIP) performs many functions related to ensuring the rule of law in labour relations, but also in non-labour relations. In general, the activity of PIP is associated with inspection and surveillance activities, which is correct, as this is what this institution was established for. It should be noted, however, that the said control institution also performs many other functions, including a conciliation function. The importance of this function cannot be overestimated, especially if all its possible manifestations and outcomes are analysed. The significance of this activity is all the more discernible when the historical context is taken into account. The meaning of the conciliation function of the State Labour Inspection for ensuring an appropriate ‘social climate and order’ does indeed resonate with the constitutional concept of the social market economy.},
