 abstract={The article discusses the importance of telluric aspect within the political thought of Carl Schmitt, who was one of the key political and legal philosophers of the 20th century. Author claims that one’s bond with specific land, the so called telluric aspect is central not only to Schmitt's views on geopolitical order but also on politics and sovereignty. Schmitt proposes an antagonistic divide between land and sea, drawing attention to conflicts between land-bound and maritime nations. Such division results in a rivalry among distinct political and cultural orders. Schmitt's thought thus emphasises the importance of traditional bonds, rooted in land, as a counterforce to the liberalism of maritime powers.},
