The tasks assigned to him, which require constant fulfillment, are to maintain the existence of the world, to stop the apocalypse as well as the reign of the Antichrist and to stop the final battle on the fields of Armageddon. In fact, it is not Carl Schmitt, but St. Paul who is considered to be the author of this concept. However, apart from interesting interpretations that have been developed by, among others, some Church Fathers or medieval apocalyptics, this concept is mainly associated with the jurist from Plettenberg. The aim of this text is to draw the attention of the readers to the fact that the Katechon inspiration appears both in the writings of this German scholar (who was not a representative of the clergy, but had an unusual conservative perspective) as well as in the clergy of the Catholic Church. In this respect, it was considered appropriate to compare the views of Carl Schmitt with the conclusions reached by Archbishop Fulton J.
