In the doctrine and jurisprudence, a dichotomous division of the concept of truth dominates, according to which two opposing principles are distinguished: the principle of formal truth and the principle of material truth. Nevertheless, representatives of the doctrine currently express the opinion that it is impossible to talk about the principle of truth in civil proceedings. Instead they formulate a postulate of truth (not sanctioned by law), described as the pursuit of analysing and solving a case in a way that corresponds to reality. The aim of this paper is, therefore, to analyse, using the historical method, the formal-dogmatic method and the axiological method, how the principle of truth has developed in Polish civil procedure over the years, how is it described nowadays and decide whether we can still talk about the principle of truth in the Polish civil procedure at all.}, title={Ewolucja zasady prawdy w polskim postępowaniu cywilnym}, doi={https://doi.org/10.34616/150821}, keywords={the principle of truth, civil procedure, procedural rules}, }
