Wydział Prawa, Administracji i Ekonomii}, language={pol}, abstract={Changes taking place in the financial market make it necessary to create an appropriate supervisory authority that will effectively counteract undesirable phenomena that may occur in the financial market. The model of supervision should be adjusted to the economic level of the country, its financial capabilities, as well as the size of the financial market. The supervision model postulated in the doctrine should be characterized by independence, adequate supervisory measures and effectiveness. This article presents the concept of financial market and supervision in the Polish legal system. The differences between the postulated models of supervision over the financial market - the integrated supervision model, the sector model and the Twin Peaks model, as well as the historical outline of the formation of particular models of supervision over the Polish financial market were presented. The thesis of the article is the assumption, that the integrated model of supervision carried out by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (hereinafter: KNF) is the result of previous experience in functioning of the supervision concept in Poland.
