The aim is to show that although Ukrainian legislation had to model itself on Soviet legislation, it retained some characteristics of independence. As the author demonstrates, this legislation diverged from the international standards of the time contained in the Berne Convention for the Protection of Copyright. In the article, the author analyses the period before the creation of the Copyright Act, the work on the Copyright Act and the basic assumptions and principles of copyright law. In conclusion, the author argues that the Ukrainian copyright law of 6 February 1929, especially in comparison with the Soviet laws – the law on the foundations of copyright of 30 January 1925 and the decree on the fundamental rights of copyright of 16 May 1928 – was, in essence, less favourable to authors than the law in force in the Soviet Union. The author also shows that certain peculiarities of Ukrainian law did not significantly affect the rights granted to authors of literary and artistic works.}, title={Początkowy etap w rozwoju prawa autorskiego w radzieckiej Ukrainie w okresie międzywojennym}, doi={https://doi.org/10.34616/149316}, keywords={development of copyright in Ukraine, copyright monopolies, economic rights of authors}, }
