• Abstract:
  
  
  The dissertation focuses on the political implications of the Islamic State in the international environment. The structure established in Iraq and Syria possessed crucial elements of the state: supreme authority, population and territory. However, the Islamic State did not obtain the international recognition (therefore it can be classified as a de facto state). The Caliphate sought on the one hand to revise the regional and global order, on the other to establish a political system based on a strict and radical (salafist) interpretation of Islam – the Islamic State’s core principles were outlined in the „remaining and expanding” strategy.The dissertation contains the analysis of the interactions between the Islamic State and its environment, as well as the reactions (and other political actions) undertaken by the international actors in the context of the activity of the group. The research goal of the dissertation is also to determine the criteria of success and failure of the Islamic State in relation to its ideology and strategic concept.;
  
  
  
  Praca koncentruje się na politycznych implikacjach Państwa Islamskiego w środowisku międzynarodowym. Powołana na terenach Iraku i Syrii struktura polityczna posiadała kluczowe atrybuty państwowości, czyli władzę, terytorium oraz ludność, niemniej Państwo Islamskie nie uzyskało uznania międzynarodowego (z tego powodu można je klasyfikować jako państwo de facto). Kalifat dążył do rewizji ładu regionalnego i globalnego, a także do wprowadzenia porządku opierającego się na radykalnej (safickiej) interpretacji islamu – najważniejsze założenia organizacji zostały zawarte w strategii „pozostawania i ekspansji”.W rozprawie przeanalizowano interakcje między Państwem Islamskim a jego otoczeniem oraz reakcje (i inne działania polityczne) podejmowane przez aktorów środowiska międzynarodowego w kontekście aktywności ugrupowania. Celem badawczym pracy jest również ustalenie kryteriów sukcesów i porażki Państwa islamskiego związanych z ideologią i koncepcją strategiczną organizacji.
