• Abstract:
  
  
  One of the most indispensable social competences in today’s world is an ability to communicate with representatives of other cultures. The ability, based on tolerance, understanding and respect, transforms into an intercultural dialogue which is essential in the process of integration between nations, races and various minorities. However, stereotypes, biases and intolerance seem to be the main obstacles in the dialogue. Young people should be particularly well prepared to the intercultural dialogue. Thus, it arises a question concerning students’ intolerance. Which manifestation of otherness makes the students intolerant? Research, conducted in PWSZ in Legnica in 2008 and in WSZ „Edukacja” in Wroclaw in 2016, demonstrate that biases and intolerance towards minorities are still strongly embedded in students attitudes, as far as social life and work are concerned. It makes the students education towards intercultural dialogue more essential.;
  
  
  
  We współczesnym świecie niezbędną kompetencją społeczną jest umiejętność komunikowania się z przedstawicielami innych kultur. Oparta na tolerancji, zrozumieniu i szacunku przeradza się ona w dialog międzykulturowy, niezbędny element procesu integrowania narodów, ras i różnych mniejszości mieszkańców Europy. Przeszkodą dla dialogu są towarzyszące integracji zachowania obronne jednych ludzi: stereotypy, uprzedzenia, nietolerancja, wywołane najróżniejszymi cechami innych ludzi. Młodzi, wykształceni ludzie powinni być szczególnie dobrze przygotowani do dialogu międzykulturowego. Powstało więc pytanie: wobec których przejawów ludzkiej odmienności studenci są (nie)tolerancyjni? Wyniki badań prowadzonych w PWSZ w Legnicy w 2008 roku i w WSZ „Edukacja” we Wrocławiu w 2016 roku wykazały, że uprzedzenia i nietolerancja wobec wybranych grup mniejszościowych zajmują mocną pozycję w postawach grupy badanych studentów, szczególnie w kontekście życia rodzinnego i zawodowego. Wskazuje to na konieczność edukacji studentów w zakresie dialogu międzykulturowego.
