In the article I present the reflectivity which is understood as a characteristic of cognitive style and I present the way of cognitive functioning of the reflective student. I examine certain educational situations in which reflectivity implies high learning outcomes, and situations in which it hinders learning at school, revealing the ambiguity of cognitive reflectivity.
