This leads to variety in the forms of activity they pursue and the lifestyles they lead. The lifestyle of most seniors can be described as passive and monotonous. They take part in cultural activities to a relatively small degree. They watch TV and listen to the radio much more frequently than they go to theaters or cinemas. The main areas of activity for the elderly are: family, television, and church. Other potential areas of activity, such as entertainment, education, tourism and culture - remain beyond the realm of interests and/or capabilities of respondents. This lack of other forms of activity may be the result of people’s health status, character traits, earlier ways of life or cultural models, but it can also be the result of the circumstances that limit the elderly people’s opportunities for social participation, leading them to passivity (e.g. the poor economic condition of retirees, or the lack of active elderly role models). Therefore, there is a lack of senior citizens in the public sphere, since their activity predominantly relates to the private sphere. Women authors of recentauto/biographical testimonies about domestic sexual violence are often stigmatized for breaking this social taboo although they show incest in the context of other forms of discrimination and transgenerational traumas. Auto/biographical narratives of Ewa Wanat, „Molestowana w domu” („Abused at home”), Halszka Opfer, „Kato-tata. Nie-pamiętnik” (Sado-daddy. Non- memoir) and Katarzyna Surmiak-Domańska, “Mokradełko” (Boggyland), highlight intersections between masculine domination and reproduction of patriarchy in Polish society, in which quite a lot of women are also actively involved. Narrators look for reasons behind aggression and sadism in the vicious circle of domestic violence and the post-war traumas. Nonetheless, their community often blames the victims for exposing the violence. Prioritizing of family’s integrity, separation between the private and the public sphere and economic dependence of victims and witnesses on the perpetrators often result inpost-traumatic sexualization of the victimized person, which limits to a large degree their ability to form satisfying relationships, pursue self-realization, and effects reproduction of the dysfunctional family model. The first published incest autobiographical narrative, which has been included in the syllabus of Silesian University, initiates an attempt to break down this taboo. These names are euphemistic or emphasize people’s age; they bring to mind the financial aspect (e.g. budget strain), they collocate with particular verbs or adjectives and they are part of stereotypical collocations which are not very favourable towards elderly people. Thus we are looking for words which denote this increasingly large group of society in an attractive way. One way of doing this is by using the words senior and nestor, which are present in Polish and which have positive connotations, and by giving them new meanings. Thanks to their use we observe a redefinition in the perception of elderly people and we highlight their positive image, void of stereotypical associations. The idea of transhumanism, which provides for perfecting humans using advanced technologies, seems to be a way to save the species from its civilizationally-eroded biological nature. Biotechnology is supposed to bring perfection to the human world, to be a Civitas Dei on earth, where the diseased and limited by biological imperfections human nature will be joined with technology allowing for the creation of human cyborgs. Control over biotechnology will be an obvious tool of political power, a biopower which - in the hands of governments and private corporations - will force upon societies its interpretation of life and how a life should be lived, and - what seems most probable - will achieve social segregation of which the Platonic ideal of state seems to be an archetype. These meanings are connected with a certain demilitarization of the international security concept which broadens its targets and changes the ways in which the targets are met with the use of instruments that defence ministries have at their disposal. Practical policies and research efforts in many countries (mainly in Europe, South America and the Pacific region), resulted in various attempts to describe defence diplomacy as a particular instrument of state policy which is fundamentally different from its classic reference point, that is military diplomacy. This article attempts to emphasize the most important elements of the debate on the abovementioned subject. It is important to understand that it is connected with a much more complex field of state policy and strategy than simple military cooperation or diplomacy which could, after all, include almost every form of international military activity. The obvious definitional problem will continue to be caused by the shift in security paradigm, blurring the line between its military and non-military aspects and their impact on defence issues and foreign policies of modern states. It was prepared by a team of 22 researchers from 13 polish academic centers. There are 20 articles published in it. 16 of them analyses how the competition look like in the voivodeship parliament election in all regions. All articles have similar structure. In their first parts authors describe situation in the regional parliament during the 2010-2014 term. They also depict the state of the coalitions, that rule in individual regions. Next parts describe the 2014 election campaign. They mainly focus on the electoral committees created by the main political parties and other regional entities. They describe how they conduct the candidate recruitment process for the electoral lists and what methods of endorsement they used. Articles end with an analysis of the voivodeship parliament election and they also describe the process of creating new regional coalitions that rule in individual region. The last four articles depict other issues connected with regional election. In first one regions are comparatively analyzed with their cultural, social and economic differences taken in consideration. The second one describes political parties and other local electoral entities human resources management. Third one deals with the issue of invalid votes in voivodeship parliament election. Finally, the last one analyses models of political rivalry on the regional level. In the publication readers will find answers for questions like: What type of strategies and tactics were used by political entities in the 2014 voivodeship parliament election? Did new political powers rise, which could break the dominance of main political parties in country councils? Did the methods of managing electoral campaigns have changed and how? In Chapter I, it is answered the question, what is the philosophy and what is its place in the psycho-physical structure of the human being. The main subject of the analysis is the dialogue Philebus, but the (re)construction is also supplemented by appealing to the other texts (Republic, Theaetetus). The pleasure is a sensation, which come out as the effect of action taken on basis of some desire. The desire can be provoked by the bodily or psychical factor. Its appearing is very often a symptom of the lost of natural stability of the given structure (soul, body) and the pleasure is sensed, when the structure is restored to the proper state. But a possibility to feel pleasures called “pure” can show that the pleasure come into being not only with the process of restoration, but it is also – in some cases – present as some condition named “joy”. In Chapter II, the analyses concentrate on the dialogue Gorgias and the polemic with Prodicus and Callicles. I show that Plato aspires to prove two things. In the case of the discussion with Prodicus it is attempted to compel him to give an assent that some not corporeal exists. The sophist, if he would be fully convinced, should reach to the conclusion that there are not only the bodily but also the non-bodily pleasures. In the case of the dialogue with Callicles Plato tries to point out that the extreme subjectivism is not the philosophy worthy of an acceptance. According to Plato Callicles seems to prefer the emotional aspect of the human being to the rational one. Similarly to Prodicus the sophist does not accept any division of the pleasures as well, and the purely emotional and subjective attitude to the reality allows him to fulfil all his desires and to draw the maximum pleasure from it. For Plato such attitude is nothing else as to perpetrate a hybris. In Chapter III, I show, how Plato divide the pleasures (i.e. pure, impure, mixed, true, false and so on) and what role play the divisions in the texts of dialogues. The Chapter IV is devoted to the question of the so-called “hedonic calculus”. This conception is developed in the Phaedo and the Protagoras. The analysis of the texts allow to find that if Plato would seriously consider to apply such calculus, it could be probably used only towards the pleasures through the senses. In Chapter V, I put forward the educational and political dimension of pleasure in Plato’s philosophy. The main analysed texts are – naturally – the Republic and Laws. Plato shows clearly, how significant role plays the pleasure both in a individual human life (from birth to a death) and in the society. It seems to be important that it permits to judge the moral state of a individual person and the state and to justify philosophically this judgement.
