Wydział Prawa, Administracji i Ekonomii Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego N2 - In our time the idea of universalism of human rights is sharply criticized. The conviction that only democracy and human rights are the way to the social and material progress is the matter of the past. One narration has ended; what will be the next? I try to consider the global problem using a Czech example. Vaclav Havel is perceived as a classic supporter of the universalism of human rights. His contemporary criticism in the Czech Republic is, on the other hand, only part of the global criticism of universalism. I use Havel’s ideas for more profound consideration: does the idea of the universal human rights should be replaced or only corrected. Maybe Havlism is not a problem but a solution?
