Due to the diversity of law enforcement in the Member States of the European Union, decisions on the eligibility of persons eligible for inheritance may be different. To harmonize the rules of inheritance law in European law, the European Parliament and the Council (EU) have adopted Regulation No 650/2012 of 4 July 2012 on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of judgments, adoption and enforcement of official documents concerning inheritance and on the establishment of a European attestation of inheritance. The succession regulation is currently one of the key legal instruments governing cross-border inheritance. The article deals with the definition of the succession on the European soil and the characteristics of the succession case against the background of the EU regulation.}, title={The concept of a case of inheritance in European Union law}, keywords={national law, conflict of laws rules, Inheritance law, EU law, inheritance}, }
